Softball Meeting

There are a lot of new things in store for the girls softball program in Monticello this year, beginning with, we will now have registration in February! We have draft in March (which may involve mixing up teams and having true try outs) and will begin play in April. We will be done in June. This will put us on the same schedule as the rest of the state that plays BR Softball.

We MAY have pre season tourneys, we MAY have teams from other towns play within some of our league games, and we may even host the All Star Tourney in 09! (And have even been contacted about the World Series in 2010!)

There was a lot of info discussed, and although lots of things are not set in stone, we ARE sure that in order to have an awesome program, we will need even more parents to help! (We will have fund raisers and etc, and there will be different ways for people to do lots to help out!)

There were 3 new board members elected, and lots of great ideas were presented. I am excited to see what this year holds. If you are a parent/fan that would like to help out, send me your email to shelley23@gmail.com and I will get it to Rebecca.

Wow.. there is a lot going on! Madison will be bumping up to pitching machine this year (she has a late birthday) so I hope it's not too much for her jumping from the lack T-ball program to a 'real' softball program. If you have any advice for how to best get her ready for the spring, shoot them my way!

The main thing, is practice practice practice, and using positive reinforcement. We worked hard to teach our girls fundamentals, and every one of them improved their skill levels through the season. Our league team practiced more than any other team in the 7-8 age group. But it paid off; we were undefeated, and their self esteem soared!
