thank you

For all the reassuring emails, and loving support I have gotten since I said I wasn't blogging for a while.
I literally had 11 emails about it this morning, and that is a nice way to start the morning. I won't delve off into info, I will just say, that plenty of people that know everything that is going on have pushed me to "get over it" and not make the same mistakes in the future in order to avoid the same results! That is exactly what I needed to hear. So thank you, emailers, (especially you, Mrs. R. H.!) I will probably stay pretty shallow on what I have to say for a bit, because I am just too high strung at the moment for gritty debates!

So, back to the real stuff..... Jordan went to some introductory thing Monday for GT at school. She said there were only three in her room that got to go. I am excited that she is learning about what GT is, and she seems to be happy about getting tested in a few months for 4th grade GT, but as my mom and I discussed, she is her own worst critic, so I hope she doesn't feel pressured. She can be really hard on herself, and I hope it is all on a fun level so she can have a good time. Karsyn is bouncing off the walls in anticipation of Awanas tonight. While they are there, I will be keeping baby Levi for Anna while she attends visitation for Uncle Dude. If you know me, you know it suits me just fine. I never mind having a little one around here, especially while my own kids are gone. I can have him all to myself!

My dad is working in my kitchen again today, hopefully getting close to finishing the "moving the refridgerator" project. There's a gap in the cabinets where he had to shove it over, so he made me some "filler" stuff to go there, and made me some cabinet trim with his router. (See, I told ya he was good) We still have some minor plumbing issues to deal with. Mr. Bug is coming out today, (also known as Buck Henderson, lol) to take a look at what we think are termites in the shop. (Is everyone picking up on how many things I have frustrating me lately?) I hope that goes well, too. Who knows. All I can say is, my husband is 100% in love with this house and hasn't seemed to mind fixing the things that have issues, so I might as well put on a smile and deal with it like he does!

Did you have an inspection done before you bought the house? The plumbing and termite issue should have been caught by the inspector.

We had two builders come and look it over, but no "true" inspection. I am now the spokesperson for how necessary (and mandatory) they should be!

The homeowners that sold the house to you should have had an inspector and a termite contract for you upon selling. I know we did. It was like $500 and we and the buyers split it. Glad you are back on here! :)

Yes, we did too Heather. That is why I was asking. We had individuals look for us and professionals. No to mention that dang termite thing that cost an arm and a leg! Our house was only 8 years old so we were lucky there was nothing wrong, but as they say looks can be deceiving.

House termite plan $675

Shop termite REMOVAL $150

I am not complaining about the cost as far as the Bug Co goes, but I am very frustrated to have to pay for this 2 weeks into owning this house. I THOUGHT that our mortgage company required one, and I should've made sure. Oversight on our part is costing us nearly another thousand bucks.

let me also say, we DID have a termite contract on the house we sold!

i've been out of the house buying business since the 80's, so i'm no expert on any of this except the conversations i had with customers when i had my paint contracting business, but i thought it was pretty standard for the lender to require inspections. just goes to show what i know :-) sorry you had to come by all this the hard way, but your experience will be some one else's heads-up on down the road.

glad to have ya back!
