Congratulations.
Since my husband has a good buddy named Michael Burns from Warren, this one has always been lovingly known as "my Michael Burns" whenever I have mentioned him. He and I were at one time as close as any two people of the opposite sex can be without dating. I trusted him with my thoughts, fears, and secrets. If you know me, you understand that's a pretty big deal, since I don't trust people easily at all. I can honestly say he has never, not once, ever failed me, or let me down. He has never betrayed me. I know in my heart, if I needed anything at all, he would do his best to help me.
I have gotten to know him well in my lifetime. For those that don't, here are some random facts: He is an ex marine. He loves eagles. He has a temper as bad as mine. He is one of the few people that I know that can honestly call his wife one of his very best friends. I have, for over ten years, referred to him as my little brother. I believe I probably always will.
Tomorrow, he graduates, for the second time, from training to be a correctional officer. I am unsure of what his title will be, and I can't ask, or he will wonder what I am up to. As much as he is not looking forward to the night shift, I honestly believe he can be quite a leader, and positive influence, on the young (and old) men he will be responsible for. I think they can benefit greatly from his presence, and I am not the one to "just say that" if I didn't mean it. He has held a job like this for several years in the past. I know it has the power to effect him adversely, and I hope that it won't.
So, to you, "my Michael Burns," I want to tell you, congratulations, I am so proud of you for your accomplishments, and for the man and husband you grew up to be. I never doubted for one minute that you would be anything less. I love ya, very much. Let me also throw in, I am thankful for the great friend your wife is to me as well. You guys are the best :)
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." -Jeremiah 29:11
