SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY

Just wondering, since I have readers from North Carolina all the way to Austrailia..... Does every state have a sex offender registry? Get on there and plug in your county, if you are from Arkansas, and you can see names and photos. Drew County has FIFTY!

Too bad the Arkansas one doesn't cover more than it does..... I know of one specifically that ought to be on that list. ugh. Abusing a child is so pathetic.

How come it says Drew County has 50 but there are not 50 listed? Shouldn't it have all of them on there?

I wonder if that total includes people that aren't considered evil enough to register, but are still convicted.

By law, only level 3 and 4 sex offender info (very little) can be made aware to the public.

well I don't think a child's name should be "findable" that was a victim, but I think we as parents have a right to know as much as possible about our co-workers, neighbors, and etc, when it comes to our kids' safety.

I personally don't believe child molesters can be rehabilitated in any way.

What are the differences in the differnet levels? Anyone know?

Ked August 27, 2008 at 9:32:00 AM CDT

The different levels takes into consideration several different factors like the severity of the crime, what happened, the victims, whether the remorse is shown by the offender after he is released from jail...I don't know what else.

I agree with you Shelley...my great uncle is a sex offender in Crossett (sad to admit) and he HAD to register as soon as he got out of prison...and no I don't think he will ever change.....it is their nature...

One question...may sound stupid how are y'all pulling up the stats and registrees, i guess i am dumb but I can't find out how..

Mindy August 27, 2008 at 9:35:00 AM CDT

Thanks for this. Ugh these people make me sick.

Jenny Sipes August 27, 2008 at 9:36:00 AM CDT

Crap nevermind....I didn't even see the drop down list...I am dumb...;)

Blake August 27, 2008 at 9:58:00 AM CDT

So what is the highest level? 4?

Jenny Sipes August 27, 2008 at 10:09:00 AM CDT

Blake here is what I found out about the levels...

* Level 1: Low Risk
* Level 2: Moderate Risk
* Level 3: High Risk
* Level 4: Sexually Violent Predetor

Jenny Sipes August 27, 2008 at 10:10:00 AM CDT

The messed thing is though, you can't find a level 4 with a picture, or at least I haven't...and they should be the first ones with pictures if they are out and about in our neighborhoods...

yes ive seen the list.. and we actually have a few around our area.. scary...

our schools and daycares get an updated list everytime time someone is added to the list! That list has a picture, if the person is recently employed and where, where they live, and lots of other info that is not on the site! I know we recieved several while i was working at Small Wonder!

Great work, Shelley, bringing this subject to the spotlight. (and for offering the link for ppl to find out info.)

Yes, only level 3 and 4 offenders' info can be made public. Reason being, a level 1 or 2 may have been convicted of say, statutory rape because he was 19 and sleeping with a 15 yr old. (this DOES happen!) Now, the sex was consensual, but a 19yr old obviously should not be having sex with a 15yr old.. but does the 19yr old deserve to forever be labeled a violent sex offender? I say no... this is the reason for the different levels and why only those considered dangers to the public are made available.

Clayton has put in for a transfer to CID with the state police (criminal investigative division, he'd be a detective) and if he gets it, he will get the PRIVELEDGE of finding these scum bags and building top notch cases against them, hopefully sending them away for a LONG time!

When a sex offender moved into our neighborhood the local police drove around putting flyers about the person in our mailbox,photo ID and all.Let me go check and see if he is on the list and I will be back to let you know...

Okay,the one who lives down the street from us is NOT listed by the neighborhood was notified of his presence when he moved in.

I went to school with one of the guys on the registry...and two other live in my MIL neighborhood.

I am trying to find the one I always use....I know there is also familywatchdog.us....ha,I found it...it was given to me by the mother of a sex offender,actually...felonspy.com
