my suprise

I got a good suprise today! I have been wanting a "plain" wedding band, around 5mm wide. I have put it on my wish list for various holidays for a while, to no avail. When I went to my mom's today to pick up some left overs and to get a heating pad for Karsyn (another story...) my mom gave me my grandma's wedding ring. It is the thin band pictured above. She actually wore two of those, and my mom wears the other one. My dad gave me the nugget ring pictured above, that he had made several years ago. I can remember sitting in preaching and playing with it, trying it on all my fingers! Anyway, they gave them to me so I can have them melted down into a new gold band for myself! Now I will say upfront that I am a sentimental person, so doing this would be hard, if it was other jewelry, but this in not the band that my grandma wore when I was a kid. She bought herself a nicer one, and it is what she wore, because she didn't like these tiny things! So I won't mind turning it into something I would wear a lot. As for my dad's...well, he already has given me a ring of his that he used to wear a lot, and I wouldn't melt it for anything. So, I have my keepsake bases covered!
I can't wait to go to Fuqua's and see what they can do, but I bet they are swamped with people needing things sized and etc from Christmas. No big deal, though, since we are at the Village basically every weekend. I have a couple of other rings my dad gave me when I was a kid that I can add to it if I need to, if that isn't enough gold.
My mom also knew that I wear a lot of silver colored jewelry, too, and she gave me this band, which is white gold, that used to have her wedding setting on it. (It is now on a wide band, that was the wide one I mentioned above, of my grandma's) I need to get it "sanded" or something, and make it smooth again, and there ya go, another ring.
I am so excited to get these rings redone!! Then I will have exactly what I wanted, with great sentimental value as well. Ya can't beat that!
