Local Monopoly
I am sick of overpaying for crappy cable and often non-working internet service.
I think it is a terrible monopoly that there is only ONE choice for me for high speed internet. We can't get DSL here, and we also cannot get wildblue. (I called dish network today to try and get satellite tv and internet together...not possible 'in my area')
It would not be so bad if I could get the internet service from our local cable provider WITHOUT having to subscribe to the cable tv service as well.....but I cannot. If I could get ONLY the internet there, I could get literally over A HUNDRED more channels from Dish Network than from them, for the same price.
UGH. The disadvantages to living in the boondocks.

OH my so i just moved out and have to pay for my own services....and i have just realized how bad it is!!!! so what can we do about this?????
amen,sista!!!
Oh, I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! It aint just b/c you live in the boonies, b/c when we lived on Browning Dr, we couldn't get DSL either. The phone company kept saying, yes, you can...and all that...and then when it was time to hook it up, they said the phone lines wouldn't support it. Then, SBC still called like once a week to try to get us to sign up for DSL, and I kept saying, but we can't get it, you have already tried!! That was even more frustrating!!
We love DISH, but had to end up with that crappy cable. We didn't have any problems in Warren. You would think you could get it in Monticello, if you could get it in Warren!!
what about direct tv?
You're just mad because you have to come to my house to watch Snapped....it's okay, I'll start taping it for you! LOL!!!
