Kansas City here we come.....maybe

Looks like we are going to Mohegan Sun in Kansas City this weekend. Well, actually that's a maybe. Michael really wants to go, but is trying to get into the "220's" for this tournament. As you can see below, this tournament isn't broken down in the 220's, he would actually have to weigh in at 214 or less.
In March of 2007, he weighed in at 260 lbs. This is quite a weight loss.... I don't know what he weighs at the moment, but it is more than 214!

WOMEN RIGHT 144 AND OVER$400, $300, $200, $100
TWO WOMENS LEFT CLASSES HAVE BEEN ADDED FOR %100 ENTRY FEE PAYOUT TO FIRST PLACE...WINNER TAKE ALL0-143/ 144+CASH BREAKDOWN $10,000 FOR RIGHT/ $8,000 FOR LEFT/ $2,000 FOR WOMEN
This is a pretty big cash payout, and I really hope we get to make it, because there will be some big name pullers at this one. But, sign ups for the actual ROTN is closed, so he may not be as interested now, since he won't have a shot at the twenty grand.

if he weighed 260 in march and wants to compete at 214 or below, i'd assume he's lost down quite a bit from 260 then. i mean, wouldnt such a drastic weight loss (from anywhere near 260) down to 214 or below have a detrimental affect on his strength?

yep, it wil affect strength quite a bit, but there's quite a bit of technique involved, and he has stronger than average wrist strength, and a lot of who wins is based on that.
When they "load up" so to speak, and lock hands, you can pull your oponent towards you, which makes them have to pull down to keep their elbow on the pad. He is also pretty notorious for how he "loads up." He is also one of the few that wraps his leg around the table for leverage...
But, do I think he was better at 260? Yes. But that weight class is where most all pros fall, so it's a difficult class to win.
He's been doing this since 1989, so I don't ask questions, I just get my camera and go :)
