The World Race

Ashlee has been accepted for the world race mission team. (11 countries in 11 months!) We need some input on ideas for fundraisers. She has to earn a minimum of $15,000 to cover her expenses, flights, food, etc. Any ideas??? We are definitely going to sell tshirts. If you would like to help us sell those, comment here. I am not sure what method will be used, but we are brainstorming as fast as possible to come up with the plan.
You can also contribute here, via chipin. I am going to try and get $1,000 together for her if at all possible!!

A good bakesale brings in a good few hundred dollars. My sister did it and she made around $400. I'll let you know any more ideas i come up with! I'm very excited for Ashlee!

Bake sells are great. I could donate some baked goods if she wants to do that.

Set up that chip in on her facebook status and update her status everyday to mention it. It worked for me to go to Poland.

i like the direct approach myself... put together a letter outlining what she's going to be doing and what the financial need is, send it out to a donor base, and then follow up as many of those as possible with personal visits. my friends the bostians, who are now career missionaries in brazil, raised their monthly support this way.

i realize this is different than being a career missionary, but 15 grand is still a chuck of change, so i believe it would still be an effective strategy.

she could also talk to places like pizza hut and see if they'd do one of those deals like "hillis night" where a certain percentage of every order on that night (that the customer specifies is for her) would go toward her goal.

also, if she wants to put together some kind of fundraiser with a dinner and auction type of thing, i just happen to have been collecting a few things that i'd gladly donate for her to auction... i have autographed pics of former new orleans saints starts tom dempsey (record holder for longest field goal in NFL history), morten andersen (record holder for most career points in NFL history), and pat swilling (founding member of the "dome patrol" from the saints' 1980's heydey). i've been going to autograph signings here and holding these to donate to some church or youth group if they ever have an auction-related fundraiser... but this is certainly as worthy an opportunity as any of that...
