Dearest Lurkers,

As much as I would like to shout “Show yourselves and tell me who you are!” I’m not going to. I want to really badly. I mean, come on, I know you’re out there. I check my stat counter frequently. Not hourly or anything like that, but every few days. As nice as they are, I know my friends aren’t responsible for all of the on-average 500 views I’ve been getting per day for the past few months.

So Anyway.....

I guess the reason I like you so much is because I like to think there are more people reading this blog than just the five or so real-life friends I have who also blog. And it’s ok if you have nothing to say, I guess. Would I like you to speak up? Sure. Will I pressure you? Nah....

I just wanted to say I appreciate you, under-valued lurker. Anytime you want to say hi, you’re welcome to! I would like to hear your two cents.

So, I will open the door with this question:

I read it everyday. But I'm sure you counted me already, ;-)

Rosjuane October 17, 2008 at 3:57:00 PM CDT

Ha me and everyone else say's open the gates. Oh and you know I'm a reader.

You know I'm a reader...but I have a question for ya....Who is your favorite (adult) niece? LOL!! Oh yea and how many times do you hear how good looking your husband is? Because I hear it a lot and he's just my Uncle! ha ha ha

Debbi October 17, 2008 at 4:29:00 PM CDT

I lurk, but I usually read with google reader and come to your site to make comments. My husband lurks too - he is a fan of you (and Rosjuane's) photography. Is that strange? He just goes through my blog list, hope that doesn't bother you.

People (that read my blog) tell me that they don't want to have a google account to sign-in. I personally don't understand what the big deal is though. I have anon. comments enabled but I have to approve them.

I read you everyday, and I am a lurker from Canada

I suppose I'm a lurker... just trying to keep up with all our Monticello friends. Hope you guys are doing well!

I usually click over a few times to see what is new b/c you post more frequently than anyone else...so I always want to know what is going on. I usually just read in a flash, and am off to get a crying baby or tend to a child, so don't have much time to actually comment.

I voted no ... cause honestly I dont like to deal w/ the extra drama anonymous people bring to blogs.

I am a little late to this post,and definitely doubt I am a lurker...LOL.

I voted allow but delete the rude ones, but I can see how just not allowing that in general is a good idea too.As a mother, wife and photographer that would just be one more thing for you to do.What I like about wordpress is that it automatically moderates comments from people who have never commented before.Love that.

well, i checked "no" for you because i know how much those snide anonymous commenters bug you sometimes. for my own self (is that about the worst grammar you've seen in awhile or what?), i'd allow them, although there are rare instances when i'd delete extreme comments (for instance, there's no way i would have allowed any nasty comments on my madison post).

i don't particularly mind having to be logged in to blogger to comment, although the link directs people to my old blog, but since i have a re-direct there to the current blog (and one of my favorite photoshops too), that isn't a big problem to me.

I usually would have said "no, sign your name to it" but i checked allow them and leave them. maybe it's just my mindset right now, but I believe most of them will weed themselves out or the people who read your blog will scare them off. I know that's not professional by any means so it probably would not work for your application.......
