twisty bulbs

Well, as much as they are I am sure that I will not drop the darn thing, but do you think I should mail it to that waste place in California when they burn out in 5 years!?! LOL

well, you also had to be careful not to drop your old mercury thermometer that you took your kid's temperature with, and your refrigerator thermometers as well. and hazardous or not, all non-biodegradable waste is gradually going to have to make it's way to recycling rather than the landfill. we do not have an infinite amount of space on the planet to bury our trash. 20 years ago, it made big news when a barge full of new york trash wandered aimlessly off the atlantic coast for 2 months because no other state (or country) would accept it. this was the catalyst for the start of large-scale recycling in the U.S.

but back to light bulbs... no need to worry too much longer about compact fluorescent bulbs. pretty soon an affordable and more practical LED bulb should be available:
