the plan

the plan just changed. I was taking Jack for his 6 month shots today, but called Dana and told her I wasn't dragging three kids out in this typhoon........so we are moving his appt.
When I looked up the weather on www.weather.com, I found that Friday - Thursday there's a prety good chance of more rain, yuck! I know we needed some, but this is enough. I don't want to even think about dealing with the first day of school (at two different schools) in the pouring rain.

Tonight, I have open house at MIS for Jordan. She is really excited about it. One the opposite end, Karsyn's is Thursday, but the kids are not allowed to come to that one. She is quite unhappy about that. She doesn't like the idea of going back to school, but was pretty into the idea of seeing her classroom before the actual first day.

We are going to miss that tonight most likely.

I just keep reminding myself that even though today its raining, tomorrow it will be another sunny day...

Good grief, they should let the kids come!! That helps so much relieve fears and help them get excited about school!

yes! i agree they should let the kids come. it's the best way for a kid to plan out their strategy for the year. without a doubt she's going to be at a distinct disadvantage coming in cold on the first day. back in the days i was in elementary school (just a few years behind laura ingalls), there weren't any open houses. it put me and my friends literally weeks behind in our plans for total domination of both faculty and administration. when open house became de rigeur, it was seen as a coup for the student in the battle for supremacy of the classroom. to have that advantage ripped out of one's grasp is tragic, but not insurmountable. she'll just have to be like avis, and try harder. TO THE VICTOR GOES THE SPOILS!

Shelley, you can take kids, but they must wait in the library while you do paperwork and such in the classroom. Once the "work" is completed you can bring your kids to meet their teacher and see the classroom. We have to go to Carter's PreK orientation from 5:30-6:30 and somehow magically appear at MES at 6:30... hmm.. could they not have planned this out a little better?! grrr...

I'm taking madison and carter to both things, and will find someone to keep Sam for those two hours.
