The Weekend

Since we are going to do our usual beach trip in July, and we just had an entire weekend in Little Rock two weeks ago, we are staying home this holiday weekend. Honestly, I don't care, because you couldn't pay me enough to go to the beach with the zillion people that will be there for the next 72 hours! (Including my friend, Ashley, but Lord knows she will block them all out and enjoy herself anyway!) That's one reason I always liked going to Orange Beach/Destin "off season" when my kids were not old enough to go to school. We could go down there for half the cost, and less than half the people, around May 23. It was never "too hot" at that point, and it was so peaceful. Well, with the cost of gas skyrocketing, I can't see any way to justify a weekend trip even if it was only to Hot Springs, so home we will be! I miss our boat a lot, but I can't imagine trying to keep it AND cars gassed up right now, plus hotels and condos always jack up the rates for Memorial Day.... ugh!

So, for now, we are getting ready for our trip to Orange beach, to stay here, at Tradewinds. We typically stay at one of the Phoenix condos, but Karsyn was in love with the pool at this one, so I agreed. They also think the bunk beds are great. I never do hotels on our "real" vacation because I like the accomodations of a condo too much; the washer and dryer, a kitchen to make 2 out of our 3 meals which saves money, and the ability to relax in a room that is not tiny.


I go to the beach at least once a year. I think I would die if I didn't. I absolutely love it. If I lived closer, I would be a wrinkly old looking dried up chick by the time I am thirty from sun exposure. Since I have gotten several calls all of a sudden about weddings and etc, here's my time frame that we will be gone:
July 6 (Sunday) - July 11 (Friday) we will be there. We may head out on Saturday, who knows. Michael has never been able to take advantage of an entire week off, so we are really excited. We have saved change to finance this trip! Lots of rat holing makes a lot possible!

I can't wait to go, but at least going later in the summer will leave us something to look forward to. When we used to go in May, it made our summer have nothing "good" at the end! Now I have Amber getting prepared for another girl trip down there. We had a BLAST last time, and are ready to do it again!!
