Dream big.

For the last several months, we have been discussing where we are going to live. Michael and I are both ready to move (yesterday!) and are getting antsy to figure out what we will do. If I could build what I want, it would resemble the house in the above pic. (I realize it's cheesy, but that's a pretty good idea of what I like.) I am a porch lover, and really want a wraparound one. Michael has always wanted to build, but we can't seem to find any land we want to build on. We have 20 acres at Rock Springs we can build on, that belongs to my mother, and will eventually be left to me. (In 50 years when my parents die, is what I tell my mom) I love the spot itself, although it will take some major preparation, BUT, it is 12 miles from town. With gas the way it is, I am not sure that is logical. I would prefer to be back in Wilmar, especially with my dad being sick now, but we can't find anywhere there to buy. My mom's place is only about 7 miles from Monticello. That would be great. But, the acreage there doesn't leave any options to build on. I guess I will always be a Wilmar girl at heart!
We have looked at several homes that are for sale through local realtors, but they are either way too much money, or in town. Michael would rather live in a box than in a subdivision, so that rules out a lot.
For a couple years, I saved pics of stuff online that I liked about various rooms, with big plans of using bits and pieces from them in my own home. Then, I lost all the pics on my pc, so I was back to square one. I have collected a few more in the last year or so.

IF we build, I am holding out for a sunroom. I LOVE them, and I would have alterior motives with it, since I could do natural light shoots in there, using the sunlight. It would have to be laid out just right, with the right windows, but it could be done.

In my kids' rooms, I want to make collages spelling out their names like this, but in color. I am so burnt out on the girl themes you always see with daisies and etc. Jordan has that now, and I am NOT taking it anywhere else!

I want to have PLENTY of storage in my next house, and I also want to convert a closet into a scrapbooking room. I don't want to devote an entire room to it, but I would love to have something like this.

I want a simple, sleek entertainment stand, as flush with the wall as possible. My parent's e. stand is inset a little, and I think that would be cool, too. Depending on whether or not we had a living room and a den, I would love a flatscreen to hang on the wall, too, especially in the master bedroom.

I want an extra bedroom/office like this. I would like to have a daybed-ish type set up, since we rarely have overnight guests, if ever, and I would not want to devote a lot of money, or space, to an extra bedroom suite. This would leave plenty of room for a desk.

I would love to have this style of bed in my kids' rooms. I am going for "less is more" if I ever get a nice, big house. I think that bed fits the bill for that.

This is the type desk I would prefer to have in that extra bedroom. I think it would be modern looking without being too odd.
Of course, if I get any of this, it will be on a modified, smaller scale. I do know that the kids and I will all require new bedroom suites, so the rest will have to be "here and there" redecorating, but hey, a girl can dream!!

I wish you would hurry up and either find somewhere to build or somewhere to buy--I'm ready to go shopping! lol

have you checked foreclosures in wilmar? i was told a while back that there are several properties (whether in town or out, i'm not sure) that are either foreclosures or tax liens. i guess the courthouse would be the place to start looking...

You definitely need a guest room so I can come visit!

It is clear that you inherited at least one trait from your Auntie.
There is no mention of wanting or needing a KITCHEN in the new house.
