the weekend
The speaker I am most excited to hear this weekend is Max Lucado. He speaks in a non preachy way, that is more like a good Sunday school teacher. That is exactly what I relate to best. My friend Ashley has done some bragging on her ss teacher, "Bro. Chad" and I think her description of the way he teaches would fit me to a T. I like a "realist" that does modern day references, and isn't afraid to make you uncomfortable.
His testimony is amazing, and to be honest, I appreciate it more than some because he in no way uses his hard background and upbringing as something to fall back on, like a chip on his shoulder, he just says hey, I lived through it, and you can too. Christ was his anchor when no one else was. (And what an anchor to have, huh!)
But anyway, back to the conference. After reading the bios on the speakers, I will say, the lady responsible for this quote:
"You are not the only one who feels that you have more mood swings than brain cells and more hormones than hallelujahs. Take a deep breath and pop a dark-chocolate bon-bon; we girls are in this together."
is going to be a good one to relate to as well! Her name is Patsy Clairmont. To say we are all excited is an understatement.
Below are the lyrics and youtube to my favorite rock-ish Christian song. If you haven't heard Ronny Williams perform it, you have truly missed a blessing. It gives me chills every time.
I am not skilled to understand What God has willed, what God has planned I only know at his right hand Stands one who is my savior I take him at his word and deed Christ died to save me this I read And in my heart I find a need For him to be my savior That he would leave his place on high And come for sinful man to die You count it strange, so once did I Before I knew my savior My savior loves, my savior lives My savior's always there for me My God he was, my God he is My God he's always gonna be Yes, living, dying; let me bring My strength, my solace from this spring That he who lives to be my king Once died to be my savior That he would leave his place on high And come for sinful man to die You count it strange, so once did I Before I knew my savior My savior loves, my savior lives My savior's always there for me My God he was, My God he is My God he's always gonna be!

Your strict view of Christianity is what is turning away more people from God who don't yet know him.
Contrary to what you bible belters think, people ARE born gay, divorce is sometimes necessary, and women don't have to bow down to their husbands. Times are changing, keep up.
My Savior is always there for me!nothing is better than that!
have a fun time this wknd!

oh, that makes me miss ronny so much! i cherish the times we've spent together playing worship music...
....and i probably shouldn't "bite" the bait, but i can't help it. :) i am not at all ignorant to the fact that there are "christians" whose views and actions turn others away from christ rather than drawing them closer...but another truth is that many people use any excuse they can (other christians...who, by the way, are all sinners as the bible plainly says) to justify their choice to not draw near to Him. And besides, that comment suggest the bible says divorce is never an option, or that wives should bow down to their husbands....neither of which is true.
anonymous #1... i have to assume that you think you know the author of this blog, because i can't imagine that you could have gotten the impression that you have from this particular blog post.
i also don't want to turn this post or this blog in general into some kind of battleground, so if you'd like to go into this a little deeper, like say, stating your biblical basis for homosexuality, you can email me at dcirelli@sbcglobal.net
I know Shelley. I read her blogs from time to time and I don't think she has a strict view of Christianity. It's the way that it should be. It's states in the Bible that people that are gay are wrong. It also states that you should not divorce unless there's adultry. A lot of people don't realize this. They divorce, remarry and then become aware that what they did was wrong.....they then ask for forgiveness. They are FORGIVEN!! It also doesn't state that women should bow down to their husbands. It says that they should submit to their husbands. Husbands should be strong enough to "rule" their home in a Godly way. The only problem I have with putting verses on here is I hope that Shelley TRULY lives by what she confesses on here. If not, she could be leading someone in the wrong direction. Keeping gossip going, acting one way around "church" friends and another way around old friends will eventually mislead someone that is lost. Innocent gossip could really harm someone and you may not even realize it. Times do indeed change, the Bible does NOT!!
I am not touching any comment on this post or trying to start a revolution......but I am a firm believer in one thing; If you stand by something, believe in something or state something as your position.....PUT YOUR NAME ON IT!
What?? What?? Why did any of this get brought up in this blog?? Nobody put anything in the one above??
And I also notice that none of that was put in the blog about revelations and God comming back, and Judgement DAY, and all those who will be lying, following the wrong ones, and those who will be against the christians that do what they read and believed to be right. I just don't understand...
Hiding behind anonymous because you don't want to cause hard feelings is one thing, but if that is the way you really feel about her then why not put your name on it.
She has her name all over her beleifs. Why would anyone beleive something that you argue if you don't have enough gaul to stand behind it.
Would anyone be preaching, following, and trusting God if he hadn't put his name all over the BIBLE!!
Yeah the times are changing, and if you had taken the time to read her other post about revelations and taken the time to do a little research in revelations then you would know that he told us all that "the times would change" as you say it and that was all signs that the end OR beginning as I like to think of it is closing in.
I don't get in the middle of this much, b/c I don't live like I should. I don't know enough maybe to say to much, but I do know that he will be the one deciding who did it right in the end so it's not for us to worry with if we do our very best he will handle the rest.
Ooooooooooh Max Lucado,I would like to hear him speak as well!!!
This conference sounds way to awesome!!!

Something I had to learn, recently, was that we all fall short of the glory every day, everyway.
Shelley,I will have to catch up on your blog-I see I missed alot!
I agree with Michael, and...if any blog reader doesn't sign their name...the comments should not be read or they should be ignored. Many ministers have that rule about comments made about them. If you can't sign it, they wont' read it.
