Just a little info
Yes, it is copyright infringement to scan a photo taken by me, or any other professional photographer, even if it is only for your myspace page, screensaver, or background.
No, I cannot help you access photos taken by any other professional photog by hacking into their site. (Besides the fact I don't know how anyway)
Yes, I will let the "other" photographer know what you are up to. It's the way we earn a living.
Now that everyone has a scanner, this is getting to be a big problem. I don't like scanned-quality photos to be in circulation that are linked back to me. And if you think "no one can tell" that you scanned an 8x10 to make wallets, you are mistaken. Everyone can tell!
Please be honest :) It's not only the right thing to do, it's the law.
There are several people that I have taken photos for that are using LEGIT pics on their myspace, facebook, and etc. (People that asked me for a small file and a release to use them)Please do not assume that you know who I am referring to, because chances are very slim that you do! I do try to accomodate people that want to "show off" their child online like that. I am not hard to deal with, just please be honest with me.
THANKS TO ALL MY LOYAL CLIENTS. YOU KEEP ME IN BUSINESS AND I APPRECIATE YOU.

Thank god you said it!! So is this copyrighted or can I copy and paste it on my blog. I just recently went through this and let me tell you nothing makes me madder.
You both should check out Creative Commons-I dont think the blog is copyrighted until you take out the license
But I may be wrong...Just a heads up.
Yep, it is still copyrighted, no matter where it is.
I own the picture.
Okay so I did some research on this and any image taken by someone is automatically copyrighted as soon as we release the shutter. No Matter where it is posted. If it is used or printed without photographers permission that person can be fined!!
I went to research it too-
I learned alot.Tee hee hee;)
This is such a huge issue for our culture! We are such "instant gratification" poeple that we think that if we CAN do something, then it must be right.
This extends to burning CDs, downloading music and movies from the net, as well as swiping pictures...
It's difficult to be a person of integrity when "stealing" something is so easy and "everyone is doing it..."
Anyone want to tackle this as an extended entry? ;)
This issue used to upset me a lot. Then I realized that even though it was wrong, that was just how it was, and me getting mad didn't really do anything except keep me upset about it. So...I just raised my prices so if they wanted to buy 4x6's and then copy them, then it would at least cost them more to steal from me! THey used to copy them off the website too... I THINK they can't do that anymore...someone may could still figure it out. Also, on my business blog, that is why I turn my pics and jumble them up, then at least their pic will look like crap. But yes, it really bugs me for someone to copy my stuff, and then that is what represents my work.
Also, all of our wedding packages include the negatives, so I am already paid for it, and I don't have to worry about it.
And I think Jeff nailed it. If it is easy for someone to do, then why not? Everyone wants to get something for nothing, and people either don't understand or don't care, that without us selling pictures, we can't run a business. Or in my case, feed my children or pay my bills!
You go girl!
