I am now that mother, 100%
When Jordan was a baby, I swore I would never tell my child to shut up. Wasn't going to do it. Thought it was ranked right up there with the F word.......
Well, then there was two........
And then there was TWO that could TALK.
I did really well for a while, by saying HUSH with such fierceness they stopped in their tracks. Now that's faded out.
My kids seem to bicker all the time. Over big stuff, but most commonly, over NOTHING.
"Her shirt is newer than mine"
"She got the panties I wanted out of the drawer cause she knew I wanted em"
"I wanted to sit on THAT end of the bathtub, make her MOVE"
UGH!
What's a mother to do....... I know, saying SHUT UP and seperating them to their respective rooms is not the thing to do. I am TRYING to stop yelling. Oh my what a challenge.
We are "spanking" parents, but try to use other methods more, as spanking just doesn't work too well here.
Grounding is much more effective , but not enough.
I can't wait to get my "parenting book" from Jeff. I hope some guidance on the right way to handle things will make us have a smoother summer.
I absolutely love it when my kids get along, I need more of those times!
I need to pray for:
GUIDANCE
PATIENCE
and XANAX......

Amen sister!!!!I was against that as well when mine were babies, but sometimes they are just so obnoxious that there are no other words to use.Spanking doesnt work here either, nor does grounding.Mine fight constantly as well, mostly Jaxen and Kyla, mainly that "brotherly" picking that irritates her beyond belief, and if she reciprocates,he is in a fire then too.10 hours in the van with these three.....whoa,I will definitely need a vacation after my vacation...LOL.BTW,I have Xanax,it doesnt work....J/K,LOL
arguing is certainly what i have the hardest time dealing with. i don't understand it. i know you've already got a book, but these two books shaped my "parenting philosophy" tremendously: parenting wise, and sheperding your child's heart. can't say enough about how good those 2 were, and how different and affective they were for our family when we applied them to how we handled the kids. they used to be on journey's "you can borrow" shelf....look wed. and see if they're there.
I never had a tougher job than being a parent! I think it's worth it though! ;)
Ugh...I don't look forward to this. My one month already smiles when Ashton gets in trouble. It is crazy.
