In search of a church......

While reading this certain article on ML about the real meaning of Easter, I am just even more convinced that I need to find a new home church. It's something I have struggled with for a while now, and there's no excuse for me to not have my children in church.

My church is a wonderful place, with tons of love and a wonderful church family, but I feel myself pulled to go elsewhere. But where? I know I want my kids to have fun, and WANT to go, and to truly absorb the stories and the life lessons that are so important to our childhoods......but more so, I feel I need guidance in MY life as well. I am still growing and learning myself! Once a child of God, always a child of God I guess!

Any ideas, anyone? Input greatly appreciated, this is weighing heavy on my heart.

There are so many right now that God is asking, "Are you really growing...Are you hearing my Word?" We struggled with this several years ago and looked outside our old church home for somewhere else to "fit in". The only problem with that was the fact that God wasn't calling us to "fit in", he was calling us to break out of our confort zone and "stand out". I know that Jeff has posted on here but Journey has been our life anchor on this lost world for the past several years and we wouldn't trade it for anything. Your husband knows mine, Ronny Williams. Ronny isn't the type to fit in and stand out he does. God has given him the gift of questioning why you believe what you believe and then will ask you to convince him. He isn't traditional church in the least and thank God that Journey isn't traditional. I'm not trying to sell you on our church but we are just so different. Jeans and tees on Sunday and only 2 days spent together. Journey calls the parents to fulfill their positions as the spiritual teachers...others just subsidize. We would love to have you. We have a 15 year old daughter, a 10 year old son and a 4 year old son. There are kids everywhere and they have a blast. We are a family and would love for you to come and visit!!!

for us, changing churches became a changing life...for the better. i've learned so much, it's hard to put into words. we, too, struggled with that decision. i'll echo the previous two entries and just say we'd love to have you as a guest....it's worth a visit just to see if it's what you might be looking for!

Well, everyone is different, but for me, Journey Church (located next to Stage) was where I stuck soon after moving here for college last year.
As far as demographics, it's young married couples with young kids. Also, overall, the people there are still in the process of "finding themselves" which is where I'm at right now. It's nice to be around people who are asking questions about life, too.

I also really like that Journey is so laid back and we have a good time at church together. It's such a welcome contrast from the church culture I was used to.

If you'd like, you can email me at serlock_99@yahoo.com & if you're interested, we'd love to welcome you into the Journey family- there's always room for more!

I appreciate the responses, and me and my family will be at Journey on Sunday. For those that don't know me, I am 28, married to Mike Smith (works at The Phone Company). He is 37 as of Saturday (the 14th). We have two daughters, Jordan, who is 7, and Karsyn, who is 5. They accept change very well, and aren't leery of strangers or new places, so I know they will fall right in with the other kids.
Can't wait to check it out :)

I'm glad you're convinced to visit Journey but I thought I'd still throw my 2 cents in. I'm from Northern Virginia and have now been living in Monticello and attending Journey for 2 years (come May). When my husband and I felt that we were being pulled to Monticello, my only concern was finding a group of "authentic Christians" (which I had finally found where we were currently living.) I was fearful that all I would find was "traditional-Southern-Baptist-going-through-the-motions" type churches. While we were visiting Monticello the Christmas before we moved down here, we discovered Journey. I knew after attending one service that God put Journey there for me and that he wanted us down here.
