last day at home
We decided to do one of our bigger art projects today, since it's their last day on Christmas vacation. We do some form of arts and crafts every day.... and my playroom shows it! I don't let them paint upstairs though; it's limited to cutting and gluing, so we have been working on these in the dining room.
They are crayola treat jars, that are supposed to hold animal treats. We don't have indoor pets, so this is pointless for us. I encourage imagination a lot, so I left it open for them to decorate them how they wanted (they didn't like the stencils, so we threw them away), and they are going to use the jars however they want. K plans to put Polly Pocket stuff in hers. I don't know what J will use it for, but I would bet it will be for markers and stuff like that.
After they dry for 24 hrs, I have to bake them in the oven. Am I the only one that used to LOVE the mudhut ceramic shop??? This reminds me of hours spent there, and I loved it!

Those are so cool! My kids love doing that stuff, too. Often I'll buy those cheap clay things from Walmart, that you do not have to bake, just for them to paint and sit around the house. You have to show us the finished product, once you've baked them. I love how that brings out the colors!
I'm so sad that break is over. :( I'm already wishing for summer break.
I used to love to take Kaylee to the Mud Hut. One of my favorites was a frog she painted for me. One year I also painted a bowl and a dozen easter eggs. I made everyone in the family their own egg also. It was so fun!

I started going there when I was really little. Actually I remember Tiarra Knight having a really fun birthday party there. After that, I took kids I babysat for up there quite a bit. (one of those kids turned out to be a great artist, Mitch Gathings!)
I got those canisters online, at toys r us, on a WONDERFUL sale.
I used to spend my summers at the Mud Hut when they were on the square. Ms. Linda was an angel. I love her! She let me help there one summer and we traded out my time for ceramics. IT WAS WONDERFUL!
Cute Cute! Looks like they are having fun. We are arts and crafts people too.
I remember the Mud Hut. Mrs. Linda was great, and helped out a lot. I still have stuff from the Mud Hut at my apartment. It's been years since I've been there though.
