24 hours away...

We are in the final packing stages. I am NOT an overpacker, I make lists to avoid this, and I am pretty sick of my lists!
We have a busy day.
Church this morning.
Have to go to Warren and get the kids, because they spent the night with grandparents.
Michael has to rotate the tires and change the light bulb in the right front blinker.
Discovery is at 5:00.
BUSY BUSY!
We went to Shrek the third yesterday. I only saw half of it, because my new meds make me sick. What a shocker. ALL meds make me sick, it seems.
So I end up hanging out in the truck waiting on it to be over. A very blah afternoon for me.
I am sick of this back pain and headaches. Nerve pain is very different from "normal" pain and this insomnia is making me crazy, too! I hope some beach time will make us all relax and rest. That is why I LOVE the fact that I don't have 5 activities scheduled per day while we are there.
The schedule is, there are NO SCHEDULES!
Off to get ready for church, this will be my last post until we return on Friday (with tons of annoying pics!)

Kendall loves the Shrek movies, but going to see it just wasnt in the cards right now.
We have nothing planned when going on our vacation either,I think its important so we actually can just RELAX.We noticed we are going to have to have new tires before we go,though.:(
Meds?Nerve pain?I am out of the loop,I think.I have been an insomniac since the day I was born.....ugh,its awful.
I have shingles. The initial outbreak was 7 years ago, when I was given steroids to develop Jordan's lungs.
Steriods lower immunities, giving the virus a chance to stop being dormant and jump on out there and be seen! Normally, this is something only the elderly deal with, because elderly people normally have compromised immunities.
Stress brings on outbreaks quite frequently, although I have not had ANY since I quit working.....
(If you remember me being in the hospital twice a few months ago, it was due to shingles)
Taking supressive medicines don't work for me.
Taking the pain medicines make me throw up.
So, I am a bc powder addict, and sometimes take stronger stuff when I have the option to take phenerghan or zophran with it. I have no drug tolerance, so it makes having this problem really hard to handle at times.
I also have PHN from the shingles.
Here's an explanation of that, that I lifted offline:
Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a painful condition caused by the varicella zoster virus in a dermatomal distribution (the area governed by a particular sensory nerve) after an attack of zoster (HZ) (commonly known as shingles), usually manifesting after the vesicles have crusted over and begun to heal. Because it is fundamentally a neuropathic nerve pain, it is not controlled by traditional analgesics such as opiates and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
There are a number of treatment options for PHN including antidepressants, anticonvulsants (such as gabapentin or pregabalin) and topical agents such as lidocaine patches or capsaicin lotion. Opioid analgesics may also be appropriate in many situations. There are some sporadically successful experimental treatments, such as rhizotomy (severing or damaging the affected nerve to relieve pain), and TENS (a type of electrical pulse therapy).
Pathophysiology:
Postherpetic neuralgia is thought to result after nerve fibers are damaged during a case of Herpes Zoster (also known as Shingles). Damaged fibers cannot send electrical signals from the skin to the brain as they normally do, and may be erratic or exaggerated, causing chronic, often excruciating pain that may persist or recur for months — or even years — in the area where shingles first occurred.
Some patients with PHN appear to have abnormal function of unmyelinated nociceptors and sensory loss (usually minimal). Pain and temperature detection systems are hypersensitive to light mechanical stimulation, which causes severe pain even from gentle touch or pressure (allodynia). Allodynia may be related to formation of new connections involving central pain transmission neurons.
Other patients with PHN may have severe, spontaneous pain without allodynia, possibly secondary to increased spontaneous activity in deafferented central neurons or reorganization of central connections. An imbalance involving loss of large inhibitory fibers and an intact or increased number of small excitatory fibers has been suggested. This input on an abnormal dorsal horn containing deafferented hypersensitive neurons supports the clinical observation that both central and peripheral areas are involved in the production of pain.

Long story short, nothing works. It hurts constantly, just sometimes it is way worse than others.
I deal with it pretty well, in my opinion, unless I have a headache related to it, then you might as well just stay away!!
I am so jealous of your vacation. I hope that you have a great time. Good luck with the shingles.
can't wait to see the beautiful pictures i know you'll take at the beach! i'm so jealous...have a wonderful time!
